Cell Phones

Cell phones are a great device to use in your everyday life until you abuse the situation. They are good for contacting your friends or family, by phoning them or texting them but a lot of negative things come from cell phones. For example, addiction, car accidents, sleep loss and increased expenses. If you come addicted to using your cell phone, you may have a problem putting it down, therefore if your phone rings while you're driving, you might feel obligated to pick it up and may cause an accident. Cell phones can also cause a lot of debt. If you abuse your cell phone, you can run up your bill. From personal experience, I know how it works. When I first got a cell phone, I ran up my bill to $1000. How? Because you don't think about when your calling is free, how many texts you send or recieve and after a month, it adds up.

  1. Thank goodness cell phones are illegal while driving now (except for hands free devices).

$1000.00? Crazy. That's more than my rent AND groceries for a month! It's amazing what happens when you get caught up in technology.

  2. I see younger kids walking around texting and what not, it's like you're kidding right? I never had a cellphone when I was 10... or even 11. I didn't even get my first phone until I was 14. My highest bill was around $680! Basically, cellphone companies are just out to get you, and they completly suck.

  3. I agree with Susan to an extent, but I know that when my son is a little bit older I'll probably get him one of the "kids cellphones" which are controlled by the parents, you can program one or two numbers into it for emergencies or general contact and those numbers are the only ones your children can call. They're good as a "just in case" measure.

Yes, I agree with you there. Those phones are great for children because if they do run into a problem, they don't need to remember 10 digits, only one. Also, they can't run up the bill because you control the numbers they can contact.
